4 Groundwater Sources discovered in the EEC area

Mr. Sakda Vicheansil, Director General, Department of Groundwater Resources (DGR) gave the opening speech in the seminar " The Survey and the Economic Value Assessment of the Large Groundwater Development in the Eastern Economic Corridor Area Project." He stated that the DGR has discovered large groundwater sources in 4 areas; Phanom Sarakham District and Bang Nam Priao District in Chachoengsao Province, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province and Ban Khai District in Rayong Province. It is estimated that these groundwater sources could supply water over 180 million cubic meters per year. The groundwater ages around 1,600,000 - 22 million years, in the depth of 400 - 1,000 meters below the ground surface. These groundwater sources would benefit the industrial sectors. The DGR will study the groundwater potential and its economic value for better planning, and effective management in the Eastern Economic Corridor area.

On this occasion, Mr. Kasemsun Chinnavaso, Special Advisor on Natural Resources and Environment, Eastern Economic Corridor policy committee office, and Assoc. Prof. Vijitsri sanguanwongse, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Kasetsart University joined the panel discussion on "The Large Groundwater Sources ... A New Hope in the EEC".
