"Warawut" delivered groundwater development for local water security project at Bandannakham, Uttaradit Province

     On 22th January 2021, Mr. Warawut Silpa-Archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment together with Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment and Mr. Sakda Vichiensil, Director General, Department of Groundwater Resources officially visited and observed the groundwater development for local water security project at Bandannakham, Muang district, Uttaradit Province. This area is one of the 70 villages at risk of drought and water shortage.

 

     The DGR has developed clean groundwater supply for domestic use in 6,950 areas during 2015-2019. In the fiscal year of 2020, the DGR has promoted groundwater development for local water security project in 70 villages at risk of drought and water shortage which cover 11 provinces, including Chiang Rai, Phayao, Uthai Thani, Chaiyaphum, Buriram, Uttaradit, Kanchanaburi, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan and Si Sa Ket. This project provides a total volume of groundwater of 6.1 million cubic meters per year for over 21,000 people. Bandannakham, Muang district, Uttaradit Province is one of targeted areas in this project. Clean groundwater is supplied to 1,163 people with a total volume of groundwater at 78,840 cubic meters per year. This project consists of two wells equipped with solar-powered pumping systems of 4,800 watts, two backup generators, a 15-meter-high-water tank, a large steel rust filter tank, water distributer, and drinking water stations.
