Warawut delivered groundwater project for large-scale agriculture at Ban Nongumlua, Loei province

     On 15th January 2021, Mr. Warawut Silpa-Archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment together with Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment, and Mr. Sakda Vichiensil, Director General, Department of Groundwater Resources visited Ban Nongumlua, DanSai district, Loei province to observe groundwater development study project for large-scale agricultural plots (phase 2).

 

     The Department of Groundwater Resources (DGR) has provided groundwater supply for 6,950 areas during 2015 to 2019. The DGR has also provided groundwater supply for 117 large-scale agriculture areas since 2020. This project is a prototype of innovative groundwater development for drought relieve and water shortages. It aims to encourage farmers to extend agricultural areas, manage groundwater better and more sustainably, increase competitiveness, reduce poverty, and improve the quality of life. Besides, this benefits 35 farmers covering agricultural areas of over 500 rai.

     This project consists of 4 wells with 100 - 120 meters depth, 5.5 horsepower pumping system, 4 solar-powered pumping systems of more than 4,120 watts, 10 kW electric generators, and 2 storage tanks with capacity of 120 cubic meters together with water distribution pipes.
